I thought I saw a last minute reprieve in the weather here in Seattle. However when I got up to Lake Cavanaugh, about 6:30 pm. It was a monsoon just b4 the lake.
Fished from 6:30 pm to 9:20 just minutes b4 dark. 2 rods. chrome flashers with a gold inline spoon tipped with a fly. (go to rig for this lake) other rod was Sepps. flasher with a spinner that I think is called a "Promise keeper" also caught fish on a red/white apex "Kokanee" lure.
Caught fish at 10'.... caught fish at 35', and in between. My intent tonight was really just to put my crawfish pots in the water. I prob. had 3 cutts. to the boat, they are always small and skinny in this lake. about 10". 4-5 Kokes to the boat. Kokes tonight were small, 7-10".
All fish were released except a few which I used in the crawfish pots. One pot was cutthroat, and the other was a Koke, and liver. I expect to go back Wed. some time to retrieve the pots.
Kokes were jumping everywhere b4 dark. mostly small looking fish, but a few that I think were about 12".
Finally saw another angler on the lake. He had about the same success.

I thought about going up there this weekend, but couldn't swing it... How is the launch area? I think there is no dock, so I'll have to beach my Arima, which I'm not fond of... Are there big rocks or mostly gravel/sand in the area?

Thanks for the report. I've been wanting to try Cavanaugh, now I know what to take.
And I love crawfish...any size to them?

Thanks for the report, I love fishing Lake Cavanaugh...and there may be a few surprises awaiting the persistent angler! I hadn't thought about it but I think that we'll haul the mud-bug traps out on our next trip to the lake.

Thanks for the fishing report and info placed in: "go to rig for this lake". Unfortunately, after thoroughly searching the nooks and crannies of this website including tabs and subtitiles behind each tab I did not find anything with that title or heading. Any help here would be good, the needle on my frustration meter is red lining.

Was that you I talked to at the launch today with all the crawfish traps?

I spoke with a guy at the launch more about Kokanee fishing, and did not have my traps with me, as they were in the water... I am going back up there at this moment. I hope the traps are still there, yikes....

Good luck, I am very uncomfortable leaving my traps overnight.

All is good, traps were there. I only had 6 craws. I think my son may have gained a couple of new pets.
