WOW, what a weekend. This trip was a special request from my mother to get the family together and spend the weekend fishing for her 70th birthday. We arrived 6-3-10 in the afternoon, set up camp and headed for the lake. We went to the first set of pens going up river to try our luck. Fishing was very slow, my mother was riding in a boat with her brother David and sister-in-law Judy, in my boat we had my Aunt Arlene, my wife Mady my cousin Wayne and his son Nick who is 7 years old, the only fish in the boat came from Nick, in fact I think that was the only bite recorded from our two boats. We headed back to Seaton’s Grove boat launch with a 1 pound fish in the boat to end the day and wait for more family members to arrive. Water temperature was about 50 degrees and the weather was partly sunny.
Day two, 6-4-10, found my Uncle David and Uncle Freddie Lee teamed up, my cousin Wayne plus myself formed the second team. We headed out to find the boat launch closest to the center pens. We started out at 5:30 am, I did not bring the GPS unit as it should be an easy find (LOL); 1 black bear spotting and 45 minutes later we turned around (I think we were half way to Omak) and headed back to Seaton’s Grove Boat launch to begin a long wet day of “How long can your worm stay in the water before it dies?” water temperature was about 51 degrees and rainy weather, David and Freddy Lee worked one side of the river while Wayne and I worked the other side. There were about 4-5 bites recorded between both boats with no fish in hand. There was however good conversation and plenty of wildlife to see.
Day three, 6-5-10, was the day of days. In the Sea-Nile was my mother Jean, My wife Mady, my brother Scot and myself, we hit the boat launch at 6:30am and headed directly to the first set of pens going up river, water temperature warmed to 52 degrees. By 8am all four of us had our first fish in the boat, Scot brought in the first fish at 3.4 pounds, Mady brought in the second one for 3.0 pounds and Mom nailed one for 2.1 pounds. Not to be out done I decided to bring in an 8.5 pound weigh in. Scot hit for his second fish to weigh out to 3.0 pounds, Mady received an incredible weigh in of .6 pounds (yes, that’s point six pounds, it is proudly displayed in the picture), and I was able to hang on for a nice 5.7 pound weigh in. We needed one more for our limit and it was up to Mom to deliver, as we lay in wait our second boat team came down river with aunts Helen and Judy, uncles Freddy Lee, David and Bob, with lines out every where we fished and fished, finally there was a strike ….. FISH ON!!!!, Mom fought her biggest fish of the day to bring in a 5.7 pound weigh in. unfortunately the second team had another day of drowning worms, (I’m sure it was done humanely).
Total weigh in for the Sea-Nile was 32 pounds for the day
