Was supposed to go out to Forks and hit up Lake Wentworth but my fishing partner got called into work, so I decided to head to Sandy Shore and see if I could find some Bulls. It was quiet at first with a few float tubers out after Tigers, well trout for sure as they were all fly fishing, so I headed off to the other side of the lake and poked around the shoreline with jig and bobber. All I could muster up was a few half hearted bites and a few followups by baby bass, the wind picked up and I switched to trout until I got back to the landing, got skunked! So figured I would hit Leland on the way home and see what's happening there, by this time it's 2pm. I see the Park is still closed and now there is a warning sign up on the possibility of the blue green algea phenomenon. Started out just as slow as Sandy Shore was then it began to rain and blow, so I headed to the other side to get out of the wind best I could and found a nice 10" Perch, started catching a few small Crappie so switched to my Crappie Spin and nailed a nice 10" Crappie, about a hundred yards furthure I got this nice 15" bow that was hanging right next to the reeds, put on a great air show. Well that warmed me up but the rain was getting harder so I decided this trio of trouble was enough for the day. Note: The Crappie was full of eggs, so obviously had not yet spawned and I think this stretch of cold weather may be delaying things a bit. Also the Rainbow was full of snails, so that's what it was doing working the reeds and it has the orangest meat I have ever seen in a rainbow... Klahowya!

Well normally I don't keep the Rainbows, but this one was so firm and just the right size for my wife and I to BBQ, and after cleaning the bugger I am glad I did keep it as I learned just what it was doing working the reeds, now I will be interested to see how it tastes... I was actually thinking about hitting Horseshoe lake but with the access and all, plus it's been a good 15 years or so since I last fished it. Got any experience with that lake and advice??

No way that perch goes 10 inches. I bet 9 1/2 inches tops. :-)

The trout musta been fun. Nice to get the surprise fish U aren't targeting.
