Should have taken it as a bad sign, lol.
My buddy and I had planned a trip to Silver Lake. He bought a new camper and was to go set up yesterday (Friday), but became ill, too ill to fish. So, I had my heart set on trying that lake out, I went anyway.

Launched at 5:00 a.m., you can do the math to see what time I got up and left the house to get to Silver Lake at that time from Tacoma. Lot's of pads so used the Berkley 7" power lizard, weightless, across the tops of 'em. Extremely early and very close to launch, hooked into a 2 1/2 pounder, I would guess. Lost that one and that was that!

Also tried 7" Power worm in blue fleck, both Carolina and weightless (actually, I installed a small nail into the worm between the nose of it and where the hook came through it). Also tried, for a while, crankbaits, and a Rattle trap lipless crank. Let's see, oh, tried a green pumpkin 7" Yamamoto worm, with nail for a little weight, as well.

Had some little pan sized fish giving chase so put on a little orange lead head jig with white feathery tail and caught me a couple of Crappie.

Decided to give up on the pads and try some docks, which I figured was a bad idea as all boats in lake were fishing the pads, most at the far east, or north east end of the lake. Looked like nickel day at the brothel. Got over by docks and no pads at all. After a bit I went back to my jig and then changed to a pink head with small yellow grub (like 3/4" long). First three casts caught two little LMB, 8 inchers or so, and a perch.

Eventually, like 10 minutes later, caught another small line side. All fish unharmed and returned back to the swamp.

Talked to one other boat and they never had a bite (after 6 hours of trying). Seen two boats fishing for panfish and they were, literally, bringing something in on every cast. Never seen a bass caught but was never real close to other boats.

use small jigs in the canal at Streeter below a bobber...most guys head all the way to the end of it.

I did not go to Silver with the intent on catching crappie, so, when they started chasing my 7" worn in, I simply put on a small jig, like I posted, and cast in between the lily pads and slowly reeled in. I seen the guys with with bobbers, out there, and they would catch one every cast, like within a minute or two. I have no doubt that if I would have brought some worms with me, I would have caught a bunch of them. Problem is, they all looked small, like 4 to 6 inches
