Went with Fishingmachine for Smallies, caught a few. The biggest we landed was a 3lb 3oz Smallie on a senko to follow up a crankbait after the fish followed the crankbait out from under a boat that was on a lift, then turned away going back under the boat. I skipped the senko under the bow of the boat and it hit the side of the dock. The senko sat there for a few seconds, then the sharp tug, then the fight was on. I won this time. Lost a few fish on crankbaits and senkos and whatever that other lure was that Fishingmachine was using, soft plastic anyway. Nothing on buzzbaits, spinnerbaits, or jigs. Saw only one bed with fish on it, but BOY DID IT HAVE FISH ON IT --- FIVE FISH swimming around it. I did lose my favorite crankbait after a fish broke off when it tugged back after the hookset. The 10lb line sounded like a .22 going off when it broke. Now I'm out of that color crankbait. The drag turned just fine when I tested it after the fish broke off. We think the surge was so quick the drag didn't even have time to let off/yield. The water temp was 65 at 4:30am and 69 in places at 1pm.
