So we made another excursion up to Rufus Woods for Thursday-Sunday afternoon. It was the best weekend ever, caught and released many on Rapala's, flatfish, spoons, and we ended up with the big ones with powerbait, The color really didnt affect the bite, they were nailing everything when the bite was on. Each day I limited within a 15-30 minute range, and same with my dad. Down lower by the can line at the dam the majority we saw caught were smaller fish shaker size, higher up near the net pens the whoppers were hungry as can be.

Thursday and friday fished the can line, and lower end of the resevior, ended up with a few fish, not producing very much size while trolling or bottom fishing.

Saturday morning we got up early and headed to the lower pens area right off the bat. It was a very slow morning, tried trolling 100 yards off the pends from top water to 20' below. not much luck there. anchored up later and still fished, that's where the action was this weekend for the most part. saturday a orange powerbait turbo caught my limit 15 minutes after catching the first 3lber, I wasn't going to be too picky on the keepers even though Rufus Woods is known for its size of the Triploid trout. Saturday average size was 3-4 lbs.

Sunday morning we got up even earlier anxious as ever to fill our limits with whoppers, and we did just that. Left the state park at about 6:00 and arrived at the pens around 6:50-7:00. what a great day it was, the morning once again was really slow, but the bite caught fire about 10:00 AM. Bottom fishing again caught my limit of a 6.5 lb native a colorful whopper and a 5lb triploid and then shortly after my dad caught a 4lber and a 5 lber also. The bites were very close together in area and time. About everycast we caught a fish.

I have to say the water warming up is affecting the fishing at Rufus Woods in a very beneficial way to the sportsmen.

Tight lines to all.
