Well, when things seem the worse, it is always a possibility that things happen for a reason.

Fished Kapowsin today, again. I only went because it always seems like I can catch two bass every trip and my 0 for 6 in Alder (where I was going to go) weighed heavily, as well.

Fished the inlet south of the island and then between the island and Champion road. Seen a few bass, 5 I think, but no takers. Just made an order from Pro Bass and got it this morning, so was using some 10" power worms on one pole, 7" power worm on one pole mixed in with a 7" lizard, and a new Ribbit Frog on the other pole.

After three hours I managed to get one just over a pound on the frog. My only bite. The wind kicked up, OMG!. Kept blowing me north. I kept fishing as the wind blew. Pretty soon, I was past the end of the island and way past Erickson's. Blew me nearly to the far end and then I decided that I was done fishing, I had to get back.

Scared to use gas motor in shallow stump ridden lake, so, patiently, headed towards state ramp with my electric. Took forever, it seemed, to get back to the end of the island, at which point, I decided to cut behind it to save myself from some wind, and then just cut across to ramp to get out of there.

While in that channel, tried casting a swim bait while moving along, but impossible as the wind, which had to be 20mph steady, would catch my bow and spin me around unless I tended to motor the whole time. Gave up on swim bait. Got in there a ways and there was a little break in the wind from a point of land that stuck out a bit. Figured what the heck, it was 8:10 and the sun was still up, I could try a few more casts. My second cast with my Ribbit Frog showed me some great top water action as the water just exploded. Fish on!

It was a lengthy battle which had two nice runs and some acrobatics. Battle ended with a 5 pound 1 ounce lmb, and just a hair under 20 inches.

Nobody to take a picture, so the one shown is all I have. In my second season bass fishing, this is my biggest.

Lost one more on same frog ten minutes later and then scooted out into the small craft warning type weather and found my way home:)

Nice job out there. I'm sure one of these days we'll run into each other out here.

That frogs good huh! The wind? Thats just something we as fishermen have to deal with. When you get into the jig fishing then you will even get better fish. Good job!

LOL, I have tried jigs. Last year at Kapowsin I had a nice 3 or 4 pounder follow my jig right up to the boat, then it seen us and scurried under the boat, then it ran right back out towards my jig then turned and headed to the depths.
The pic does no justice to the wind. That was the lee side of the point so it was calm. I was too far from the shore to cast clear to the few lily pads and knew it, but I had already fished them so just wanted to try my frog out in open water. I was probably like 40 yards from shore when I cast and this fish took the frog in open water maybe, oh, 30 yards from shore and at least 70 feet from the pads. So, I learned something and that is that bass do not think "HMMMM, why would a frog swim all the way across this channel. I am not falling for this trick."
