Got a rare oportunity to take my wife fishing on Sunday. Only had a few hours, so hit pine for some trout. Started at 11am. Weather was a mix of sun and clouds with an inconsistent breeze that made keeping the boat on course a pain. Started trolling with a wedding ring tipped with worm and also a rapala. Tried a couple different rapalas with no luck, so switched to an orange flatfish around noon. Had a strike soon after. Then picked up a trout that we lost at the boat, so we both switched to flatfish. My wife boated a nice stocker and we had a number of other hits, but nothing sticking. Quit at 2pm. Very few boats on the water and the pier was not overly crowded for the free fishing weekend to my surprise. Nice to get out. The other boats we saw were having about as much luck as we were and we saw one caught from the pier.
