Started the day fishing the shallows with t-rigged plastics. Nailed rock bass all morning long, bite seemed to be a little slower than usual though. Switched to my jointed shad rap and boated the first smallie, about 1.5-2 lbs. Continued fishing until around noon when we moved to the weedlines just south of the boat launch. Started throwing a 5 inch watermelon and red flake senko for a final hail mary (still haunted by the largemouth I almost caught) and bam, hawg on. She ran me through the weeds and put up one heck of a fight! With the help of my buddy we got it in the boat and it weighed in at 4.5 lbs; 17 inches. Great day on the lake, wish I didn't have to work the rest of my July 4th weekend... I'll be back on the lake again Tuesday! Tight lines!

Ha, thats me and my dad in the picture, in the boat behind you. Those chigger craws got me a couple of nice perch and a rock bass. Still no smallies or largies yet.

It wasn't you two that I lifted my bass up to show was it? The only thing I don't like about those chigger craws is how easily the rock bass rip them up. You'll get into the smallies sooner or later! I'll have to look for you two next time!
