First off, what a beautiful area. My wife and I camped at Ozette Campground and had a great time. I had the chance to fish this lake during the evening in the floattube and was amped to tie into a largemouth that I had heard swam around this lake. I started off fishing the Northend and made my way down the Northwest shoreline. After many attempts and baits later in the shallows fishing weeds, logs and underwater structure I gave up and headed out toward the middle of the lake to meter the bottom contour and kick to the Northeast shoreline. I ended up in the 20-32ft range doing an s-pattern in and out of depths to see if I could pick up anything and run across a large salmon or trout that inhabit the lake. In about 20-22ft mark I would pick up fish and get my Lipripperz mini jig down to the bottom. Everytime I brought up a squawfish. Every mark turned out to be these little barking guys. At one point in 30ft of water I did pick up something huge but could not get it to bite on anything. Once to the otherside of the lake I fished the shoreline back to the launch for nothing. Seriously a ghost town. Not one dink or any sight of bass anywhere. Maybe they are all farther south of this monster of a lake and just not on the northend. I talked to several others who had been out and fished in boats throughout the day and nothing notable to mention. One kid hauled in a 10" trout but that was it. This place is amazing for the eyes and we will for sure come back to do the hike down to the beach, but as far as the fishing I might have to call this one busted. Unless of coarse you like hauling in squaws.
