The heat wave of 2010 subsided today and the trout are ready to feed again. 5 rainbows 10"-12" were landed and many missed as the little guys were hungry after a week of no action. The air temp. was 70 and the water temp. 73 there was very little surface action but 10' down they were "putting on the feed bag". Only one large fish hit the fly and during a run for the other side of the lake it snapped my 6x tippet with ease, couldn't follow him fast enough. Another fisherman did land a nice 17" bow doing pretty much the same thing. I was dredging a size 18 bunny leech in brown as slow as I could possible go with out hanging up..This time of year the big fish are very, very hard to come by but all in all it was excellent. Is there a more peaceful spot to fly fish in western Washington?
