It was tough day fishing, no carp inspite of a measured patience and a handful of corn. this morning, later drove up to lake Ballinger and cast off the dock there for a little while but besides on strike on a worm and floater, saw nothing but tiny minnows schooling.
Went back to greenlake and after still no carp, and my parents in tow (just hanging out and bringing their dog) I switched to a spinner and scrapped out two rock bass. Lost more than half of the strikes. Since my mom is from old China, she took those rock bass and is probably frying them tonight.
They say Carp of a symbol of good luck in China, well, they luckily evaded the frying pan tonight. Though one did bless my hook on friday night not long after a nasty arguement with a park user who thought fishing was ruining his wife's favorite swimming area, (not a designated swimming area) and when i arrived, there was no one in the water, or sitting on the shoreline, or in bathing suits. As soon as my accuser left, some witnesses came over to reassure me that i hadn't done anything wrong, but still the peace was broken and i've found some suspiciously homemade signs posted on those park benches saying no fishing while swimmers are present. How coincidental that the Seattle Parks as suddenly changed it's policy with paper signs stapled to just two wood benches out of the whole lake...
(New signs found E Greenlake Dr N and Meridian ave)
