Wow what a day! We were at the Skagit Speedway until 11:30 last night and then when we got home I had to fix the trailer lights. Bed at 1:00 but I was up at 3:30 and I couldn’t pry anybody else out of bed so we got a late start but we sure made up for it. We were on the lake by 6:15 and had our first fish on by 6:30. We had nonstop action until 8:30 when we had limits for four in the bag. The fish were all taken on 0 chrome or 0 fish scale dodgers followed by a single red 3/0 hook or a single red 3/0 hook with pink smiley blade dodger combo all tipped with shrimp. All fish were taken with gear running at 43’. We were fishing in the general vicinity of Noisy Creek. I cannot emphasize the quality of the Baker Lake sockeye. They are big (for sockeye) hard fighting fish! Final count, 8 bright sockeye to about 7 ¼ pounds.
The best part of the day was yet to come. Being done with fishing by 8:30 and not being one to waste a sunny day we motored to a cove and beached the boat for 3 or 4 hours of water play. King of the stump, tadpole chasing and when the log rolls over we will die kept us entertained. Entertained?…heck we had a blast! And then on the way home we had lunch at The Cascade Drive-in in Concrete, our new favorite hamburger joint. Dinner tonight…sockeye cakes and salad.
