8/3/2010 12:58:00 AMWhat a sow. All I ever see is measurements. Doesn't anyone ever weigh one of these things? I catch and release many pike each year but when they start to get a little bigger I always get a weight on them. I have only killed one fish in the last several years and that wasn't from weighing it. "Happy Fishing"

8/3/2010 10:15:00 AMI believe most most just take measurements and use a weight calculator to figure it out. This fish calculated out to be 25 - 28 lbs depending on what calculator you use.

8/9/2010 3:18:00 PMthat is one huge pig of a muskie. Congratulations! I would however recommend that you don't bury your fingers into their gills like that. I'm not trying to start anything, just try to be a little more respectful of the beautiful fish in this lake.

8/9/2010 7:00:00 PMJust for the record I am very respectful to the fish out here and everywhere else I fish I don't remove wild steelies or dollies from the water, I dont kick the pinks around when I catch them, I cnr everything I get out of the lake. A lot of muskies I get never leave the water. It just so happens that this was probably the heaviest muskie I ever caught and wanted to get a good picture of it. I went crabbing the night before and forgot to put my gloves back in my bag and wasn't going to get my fingers in the mouth of a 25 plus pound thrashing pike. I grabbed it the only way I could. It was too fat to get a hand around it and too wild to cradle it. To suggest that I'm disrespectful really pisses me off.

8/10/2010 9:09:00 AMthe comment wasn't meant to piss you off Red, and I'm sorry you took it that way. I have seen people out on Tapps hook and kill many muskies from either handling them wrong, leaving them out of the water too long to get a pic and not resussitating them correctly or just plain kill them to take home to show mama.. with that much weight, holding them in that manner can damage gills and internal organs. Kudos for you for c and r everything from the lake though.

8/10/2010 4:00:00 PMHey Pete, That fish came from right in front of your house about 10 ft off the dock. I'm surprised Alec did't already catch that one. We definitely need to get out soon. Soccer is comming up and that eats up a alot of our free time.
