I took a trip to lake Gardner, (Lake Gardner also known as Rey-Grey Lake)( not listed) the one in Granite Falls in town and decided to try my luck. Powerbait, marshmellows and salmon eggs had no effect, but when i put a worm on my hook it was on. I caught fish consistantly, about 3 every 5 minutes, one right after the other, cast my line about 10 feet from shore near the outlet, caught around 20 bluegill (50 bluegill allowed per day as bluegill is a non-game fish :) and two small mouth bass.

The fish in the bottom center is an obvious Pumpkinseed. The others could be Bluegills. The main difference in the two is the red mark on the opercular lobe (the gill cover appendage).

I was fishing there earlier this year July 4th and later in month caught lots of small crappie(no yellow belly and green in color) and some blue gill with orange bottom and spot on front and some bass. Nothing huge crappie were 5"-7" and blue gill about 6" did manage to land couple largemouth bass in 11"-13" range but most were under 8" but lots of action. Very weedy lake and you can catch sunfish(crappie/bluegill) very close to shore in 1/2 ft of water with top water rapala or small crappie jig and bobber.

I dig the tank, but I think there are way too many fish for the size of tank to keep 'em healthy... unless it's just a live tank where you're keeping fish before you fry. Those two largemouth are about as big as the panfish. I've been toying with the idea of setting up a huge freshwater local species tank myself. Again, nice tank and report.

Last time I checked (while working at a pet store), it's pretty much totally illegal to catch and keep fish in an aquarium like that. Plus, there's far too many in there, and even if there weren't, 9 times outta 10; they're gonna die; after suffering from fin rot and fungal infections on their scales. It gets pretty ugly, pretty fast unless you're willing to run a 100 plus gallon tank, multiple filters; plus a water cooling unit (they don't care for room temp water).

Are you kidding me. Put the fish back. Let some kid go and catch the fish. You should have your fishing license pulled. For one thing that is inhumane. . It's another thing to keep it as a pet.
