So I finally made a trip out to Haller today after running a few errands in the Northgate area.
I haven't been here since about April or so when I caught some Rainbow Trout.

Anyways, I started off using a Beetle Spin with the Beetle Shad attached in place of the plastic that comes with it.
About the 5th cast I hook into a very small Largemouth Bass only about 6 inches long or so.
There seemed to be a small school of them patroling around the shores.
I even saw them chasing and easting little Largemouth Fry.

I caught a couple more Largemouth in the next 15 minutes or so, they were all dinks like the first one.

I then hooked into a decent Largemouth and it took out a little bit of drag (Using an ultra light set up that I had with me)
As I'm fighting the fish I'm hoping that it doesn't jump and spit the hook.
It did just that, fish gone. It appeared to be roughly a pounder - pound and a half.

Disappointed, I decide to change tactics.
I put on a 1/0 hook and was working various soft plastics.
I was just killing the Largemouth from then on.
Even though none of them were very big and ranged from around 6 - 10 inches or so, it was still fun catching fish.

I caught fish on 6 inch Roboworms, Finesse Lizards, Berkely Gulp Leeches, and Curly Tail Grubs.

But the highlight and biggest disappointment of teh day was when I lost the best fish.
I made a cast a little too far and it ended up going over a tree branch and into the water.
However, It was towards the edge of the tree branch and I knew that if I hook a fish, I can easily get off the branch.
I happened to be using a 6 inch roboworm at the time and I was bobbing it up and down, in and out of the water.
I was dangling on the surface, raising up 3 - 4 feet out of the water and letting it splash back down.
About 30 seconds later, SPLASH!!! A Good Largemouth hits it topwater and and breaks the surface!!
This one takes out a lot of drag and I fight it for about a minute or so and as I'm getting it in towards shore, I'm literally about an inch away from landing this fish.
As soon as it's mouth hit the shore, it started to shake like crazy, spit the hook, flopped halfway onto shore, and as I bent down to try to grab it, it slips out of my hands and swims off.
Judging by the length of it and the girth of it's fat belly, I would guesstimate that it was pushing 2 lbs at the very least.
Not a huge one but it would have been the the Biggest Largemouth that I caught out of Haller.

This was actually the first time that I have ever caught Largemouth out of Haller.

Anyways, I lost more fish at the shore than I landed.
But I landed 19 Largemouth and 1 Yellow Perch.

So it was a pretty fun day, lots of actions.
A lot of people came to swim, including a big group of kids, but the Bass seemed to come back and bite within minutes of them going out into the middle of the lake or leaving.
