My son and I went out for an evening fishing trip to liberty just for giggles and ended up finding a school of perch just down from the boat launch. The larger of the perch we were catching were in the 12in range. Which with how perch fishing has been in the last few years was huge. Fished from about 5p.m. till dark and ended up with about 12 10-12in perch and one dinky smallmouth. Made me happy to have been able to put my son onto some perch like I remember in my youth. They were hanging around on the 15ft shelf so they were out past the minnows. All in all caught probably 40-50 fish and a couple 7 inch bluegill which were also larger then expected. Heading out again tonight to give it a shot. Maybe luck will smile on us again and we will have fish for dinner. Stay safe and see ya on the water.
