I haven't been to Sunday Lake in Stanwood for a few years so thought I would try it out. I arrived at 10am and fished until 3pm. Sunday Lake is know for it's millfoil and slime and it was in full gear. Lake was dead calm when I arrived. I started out with buzzbait due to all the slime and no hits. I drifted out to side of lilly pads right of launch and had luck there before on spinnerbait. There is deeper water out there so tried it but no luck on spinnerbait. I did land small largemouth bass 6" on top water rapala. I then lost another one swimming it back to the boat. I threw my spinnerbait out to deeper water and bam fish on. After good fight I landed a 10.5" bass who had a big belly on him. Looked like he had been eating well. I release him after two photo's and tried closer to shore. I got a top water bite but looked like a crappie hit...so I downsized my minnow and re cast and bam fish on. Yep Crappie this time. I had few more hits really close to shore by reeds. But nothing else in the boat. I headed to north end and still no bites just green slime.
I ended not getting much and just scouting the lake to see where the slime was. South end of the lake looks promising less milfoil just pads and grass. I decided to troll over there with bass colored rapala and fish on. 9" Perch. It then started to rain and decided to troll back. Again after short row fish on another Perch. I put on rain gear and trolled some more and landed 4 more Perch. Seems the Perch were active. I have caught Perch there before on smokey joe Rat L trap in early 90's.
Slow day 10 fish total 3 Bass 10.5", 6" and 2" on jig yep it was that small, 6 Perch 9" largest rest 6-8" and one Crappie about 6".
This lake used to have big bass in it but heard home owners association sprayed the lake 5-7 years ago and killed off some of the fish and milfoil/pads. South end of Lake used to be full of pads now the end just has small set of pads then big gap and more pads.
