The boat got a new deep cycle battery and live well today so it was off to Big Lake for some testing. I chose Big Lake because it is over loaded with eager to bite perch and I figured they would be good test subjects for the new live well. My figuring was correct and as soon as the anchor was down the first perch was safely swimming in the live well. We fished various spots around the lake and did find a school of larger perch at the south end. We did not count but we caught a mess of perch and 1 small but bigger than my last bass, bass. All the fish were caught on small tube baits or small curly tail grubs tipped with worms or perch meat. Although we caught fish on everything we sent over the side, gold with gold flake seemed to be the go to color. It was a fun couple hours and the live well/bait tank worked flawlessly. With the exception of the 1 fish that volunteered to provide the bait all the fish were released back into the lake unharmed and seemed to enjoy their boat ride.
