Note: I chose the average rating as I didn't stay out that long and couldn't say how the overall bite was. After fishing the Sound this morning, I dropped the boat in the Lake on the way home to desalinize the rig and put out a line to see if I could bag a cutt in short order. I ran up to the North side of Mercer Island and after about 10 minutes of trolling my rod trips off the downrigger and line is peeling off my reel. The fish breeched quite a ways behind the boat and all I saw was a large dark fish. I though, great, another sockeye I’ll have to release. However, once I got the fish close to the boat it became obvious that it was a good sized cutt. I managed to finally net the fish and it measured out a bit over 21” and weighed in on the X-Tools digital scale at 4lbs 7oz. I packed up shop, headed home and had the boat back on the trailer less than 30 minutes after I had launched it. The fish hit a mini Apex 35’ down in 105’ feet of water, that lure has been money this year! If the silvers aren’t going to show in the Sound this year, I think I’ll stick to the Lake. A couple of other things to note, the surface temps are around 65 degrees and the thermocline where I was fishing started around 25’ down.
