I will start off by saying that I've been fishing fish lake pretty consistently since mid June. From mid June through early July I was nailing the cutthroat and rainbow trout. Since then I haven't been able to catch much of anything.

I arrived at the lake around 5pm and started fishing with a half nighcrawler on the bottom. There were fish jumping all around me but I couldn't get a bite. I switched to throwing spinners and still no luck. I than switched to a spoon, still no luck. Switched back to a worm on the bottom and got a few light bites and caught a sculpin (I hate those little buggers). In the mean time there are still fish jumping everywhere so I switched to a bobber. With that method I did end up getting a small largemouth, but still no trout.

I can't figure out where the trout went, I know they're there, but I just can't get them.

When it's like that I bust out my flies. And a Kastmaster. Use a topwater fly that looks like a mosquito. If you don't have a fly rod, don't worry, use one of those casting bubbles, they work great.

Thanks Nate! I actually picked up a couple of those bubbles yesterday and I'm hoping to give it a try soon.
