Went with my two best fishing partners and spent the entire day hitting our spots. As usual, one spot was the best and gave up a couple limits. We had a half dozen nice perch as well. Weather was beautiful; mid 70's, medium winds out of the southwest. Bite picked up when the clouds rolled in. Covered spots from the City launch all the way to Steamboat. Mid-to-lower end was the best fishing. Color didn't matter as much as location and cloud cover.

My parents have moved from Asheville NC to Spokane and into a retirement community. My dad fished walleye back in Wisconsin and a kid (to feed the family during the depression) and as an adult for sport. I would like to take him catchin this weekend. Any ideas on weather to go to Lake Roosevelt, Banks or Potholes? I would like to put the 82 year old guy on some fish. Thanks for your thoughts. AW

AW...I would try Lake Roosevelt first, especially if you live in Spokane. Put in at Spokane confluence, and fish jigs or spinners, with crawlers. Up lake from Spokane River really seems to be hot right now. Banks is doing well also, but not for numbers. Plus, Lake Roosevelt has a smaller minimum size, and larger bag, and if your dad is like my dad (from Northern Wisconsin) he just wants a good fish fry! Roosey's walleyes are excellent fare. Potholes has been really tough this year, on many anglers. Good luck and post a report if you go.
