Well I talked myself into trying to bag a coho out of Lake Washington as the reports out of the Sound and local rivers were less than stellar. I started fishing near Evergreen Point around 10:00am trolling a green metallic rattle hot shot 30’ down off the rigger. The weather was in a constant state of flux and for the fist 2 hours squalls were coming from the south on a regular basis. I had a vicious strike about 20 minutes into my trolling and it turned out to be a nice fat 3lb cutt, not what I was gunning for but I’ll take it. The weather cleared up for a bit and got quite warm and with that the wind picked up as well. I concentrated my efforts around Evergreen Point, Hunt’s Point and Yarrow Bay areas. Fished various depths and varied speeds between dead slow and 4mph. I didn’t manage any other fish for the rest of my time out and didn’t see anyone else bring one in either. By the time I packed it up the wind was blowing between 20 and 25mph and it was a rough ride back to the launch. I did fish the north side of 520 for about half an hour and marked 3 distinct sets of fish at various depths. I targeted the deeper fish in the 100’ to 120’ range to no avail. Surface temps were still fairly warm and varied between 65 and 67 degrees.
