Had to run up and say bye bye to another one of my favorite little bass lakes that closes for no good reason at the end of this month. Got a phone call shortly after launching that made it so I would only have about 4 hours to fish. Headed left, or west, from the launch throwing a gold willow leaf spinnerbait around the lily pads and logs and wham had the first bass on within ten casts. He went about 1.5lbs. A couple casts later I had another, then another, fished around the first small point with no more hits, so I moved out deeper and caught 2 more on a perch colored shad rap in about 10 feet of water. Headed back east to work the steep wooded bank down to another point. Only caught two small fish both under a pound, so I motored all the way back to the far end where it's alot shallower and there are more pads and logs. Did not touch a fish through this area! Heading back west along the north shore, I fished parallel to the bank in about 5 feet of water and caught 4 more, again all under 2lbs. Continued fishing up past the R.V. Park and back to the west side picking fish up here and there along the way.

I tried grubs, jigs, drop-shot and texas rigs with zero results. All my fish came on a spinnerbait or crankbait today. Water temps were 60-61.5* and I noticed that there is still a pretty pronounced thermocline at 22 feet throughout the lake so I threw deep diving crankbaits for the last half hour looking for a bigger fish, but only picked up 2 more pounders. Pretty day at least and got to see the otters, that's always cool!

I talked to two other boats on the water and a couple guys said they were doing good on perch, and one guy said he was doing good on trout, too bad it closes in 19 days :/
