Hit stevens at 7am started fishing at 730. Started trolling on the east side of the airator towards purple penant. I tryed to stay in 80-100 ft. The wind was blowing from the east so I stayed close to that side so I didnt have to fight the boat as much. Ran our lines about 50ft back and started down at 40-45 ft. The first half hour nothing and then noticed a few koks toping the water like it was spring. Moved our lines up to 21ft and started hooking up. I got a new downrigger rod for koks with really light action and it was a blast felt like I had some 10 pounders on there. We ended the day at 1pm with 8 the smallest at almost 13inches and the biggest at almost 16. We mainly had luck on home made trolls out of pink with flash. My buddy used a kokanee killer but retied it with smaller hooks. We were using pink gamis. I was using 4lbs leaders and my friend was using 3. I rated this a 5 because it was such a kick in the pants with that new rod. The action alone on the rod is a 10. Light gear is the way to go.

Those fish look pretty bright. Is that typical for Stevens this late?

Those are next year's spawners, it's been a banner year for kokes all over. Just wait until June rolls around, there will be some really nice sized fish in the lakes.

BTW - Nice job on adjusting your presentation to what you observed. Who makes that new rod you were using? I have been collecting dedicated kokanee rods and have ones made by Daiwa, Shakespeare, Tica and Okuma.

Im not sure if its typical or not Dkelliott3 IM still new to the game. G-Man the rod is made by Daiwa its a Heartland HLD-KN 862L Its 8'6" light line is 4-8lbs. It was bought at a fishing store by forest park in everett. I also tryed one rod long lining it with one hitting it with no hook up. Which was good I got to break in the new rod. tight lines

I'm familiar with those, I actually purchased a second Heartland Kokanee rod right after I picked up my first one a few years back. They load up beautifully on the downrigger and I've brought resident blackmouth to 8lbs to the boat in Lake Washington with them.
