An outstanding December day in the Seaton's Grove area. I met up with Malottguy at Brewster and headed over to the Seaton's Grove launch. We got on the water around 9:30 or so. We dropped down to the area above the Highlines, and dropped a couple of nice fat crawlers attached to harnesses. As the bottom bouncers started ticking the bottom, we started working from 30 feet of water aout to 70 feet or so. we were marking several fish, but having little luck enticing them to sample our offerings. We varried speed, and colors, and event tried to think like the fish. In my case I think I was closer to that than Malottguy. LOL We ended up getting several hits, but alas, it wasn't our day to boat any eyes. We did see one other boat get the net out a couple of times. From a distance the fish looked to be of legal size, but no monsters. Two other boats were plying the waters there. We headed on down to the pens area to try for a trout, but skunked out there also. Malottguy saw a cruiser that would have been in the 10 pound class, and I thought he was goung to hook up. The fish was calmly swimming by at about 10 feet or so deep and as Malottguy's B-2 came into sight, the big boy moved over to check it out. No take, but the adrenaline was pumping. A few hits in that area, with a reprimand to keep 100 feet away from the pens by the workers, and we headed to the launch around sundown. A beautiful day but no fish. The water temps were around 50*, so the temp is dropping. Be safe and have a great time in the outdoors.
