Launched at the Corps launch above Chief Joseph Dam around 11ish, and as I was rigging up and warming the engine, Cindy was casting a Crocodile. She was getting a couple of follows, and had one hooked up. It came off right at the boat, and looked to be in the 4-5 pound range. We drifted along and cast for a bit, but no more takers. So up river we went. We stopped in at Brant's Landing, and drifted through the area using the bow mount to keep us headed in a up river direction. We didn't get any bites in this area, but did see some shore fishermen hook up. Next stop was pump #3. I picked up a small one here (c&r), but no more takers. then we ran up to the lower most pens. There was a slight current and a breeze. Seemed no matter which way you turned the breeze would be right in your face. Cool fingers for sure. Anyway we caught and released several fish, one about every three casts for a while, with several doubles. The fish were running 2 1/2 - 3 pounds. We couldn't get any "big" fish to hit, so before it got too late, we boated our limit. They are a nice size for the Foreman Grill. Tasty little morsels. It seemed dark colors were the best today, and we caught fish in black and smoke colored jigs. A black body with smoke legs in a tube from BMGW seemed to work pretty good today,as did the B-2 in Root Beer color. It was a good day on the water, snow, wind, sleet, and some sun broke through once. The air temp was mid 20s and surface water temp was 47*. Enjoy the upcoming holidays everyone.
