Not really a fishing trip today as much as a shake down the boat that hasn't seen water in 45+ days trip. Once I got everything unthawed, including my steering lines, I motored around the lake watching my Lowrance just to see what I could see and run some fuel through the system.

Water temps were 39.5 degrees, ambient was about the same, winds were calm. Surface ice is on the northern half of the lake, but it's very thin and easily broken through, it was funny to watch the seagulls walking around on it though. I tried a couple spots just for kicks with a green Yamamoto grub on a 3/4oz football head and a robo worm drop shot, but no dice. Was only out about 2.5hrs, but it sure felt nice. Saw a few guys trout fishing but don't know if they did any good, never saw a fish rise or anything too exciting on the Lowrance...

Went to Goodwin on Friday, marked fish in a couple of holes, fished from 10- 3pm. Saw some fish actively feeding, but they didnt want to play, threw dropshots, football, carolina and spinnerbaits.

Cool deal! I caught a smallmouth last weekend at Lake Roosevelt, from the bottom at 107 feet! I was draggin' spinners and crawlers for walleye.

I went to Goodwin last Sunday. I fished deep water areas with quick access to shallow water. Mostly in the 30-40' range. I have not Bass fished this cold of water before so I really tried to concentrate on slowing my presentation down and giving the lethargic fish a chance to eat. I used mostly a double tail hula on a 1 ounce football head and a 1/2 ounce dropshot with a small robo worm. After a long time with no action I needed a warmup so I even cranked a norman DD22 for a little while. Fished from 11-3 no luck. Anybody have success on Goodwin this time of year?
