It's that time of year so we decided to try ice fishing for perch. The weather had warmed a bit from the previous 10 days....mid 30's daytime now compared to lows in the single digits and daytime temps in the 20's. Got on the lake at about 0930 and found reasonably good ice. There was a light rain falling, with some dark colored surface ice, so we stayed pretty close to shore. We only fished till noon and found enough perch for a decent fish fry, using typical ice fishing gear. It was quite enjoyable to do something different than launching the boat! Winter fishing is as fun as any other time of year, as long as you prepare accordingly.
