Just my .02 worth on Jigmeister and My trip to Rufus. The wind was calm in some stretches of the river and white capping in others. we ended up going down from the upper pens all the way to the lower pens. the fish in the upper locations just aren't producung for us this winter. Anyway, usual tactics at the lower pens produced some action on a chilly day. The up river wind made the chill sink in after a while, but the bite was enough to keep us going. While at the lower pens we saw part of Zaskar's (WL member) crew fishing in the area. They were doing their annual RW trip and staying at the Cabin By the Lake. I'm sure they will have a report to post when they finish their trip as We saw their rods bending a few times also. As a whole the fish were biting lightly with the occasional take down. Jigs were the order of the day, as spinners and spoons produced no bites. Tight lines and warm socks everyone.

Thanks again for a great time on the water Lewis. A 23 fish day was well worth the drive and I learned so much from fishing with you. I'll be sure to send some helgramite jigs your way. Take care, tight lines sir. Jiggy

Nice job blufin and jiggy. I'm glad to hear that you guys got into some fish, 'cause I'm headed there next weekend. How was Seaton's Grove boat launch? To anyone, please holler if you see me up there and we can compare notes. White jet boat with two people. Once again nice job guys!

Fishdoc. The whole trip was awesome, including clear roads at the launch, even if it was a little bumpy. I made sure to check the Grand Coulee weather reports as Loui's propane heater and glove hot packs tamped down the wind chill a bit. Don't let Louie's post fool you...Lol He hooted at every "soft biting" fish like a iiltle kid in the candy store and shared a little advice that helped another boat bend some rods after they had a slow day.. Lewis is a class act and I am honored to have fished Rufus with him! Jiggy.

Best of luck to ya fishdoc. My secret to catching fish is to have the right bait, right place, and a hungry fish to cast to. LOL As you can see, I believe in luck when it comes to fishing. As they say "I'd rather be lucky than good". Even if Rufus is in a slow cycle year, it is still a great place to be on the water. We'll keep our eyes open for ya if we are on the water. Stay safe and warm.

Hey Loui: Have you ever caught smallmouth in Rufus? If so, what times of the year do they show up in your catch.

Morning Anton, The smallmouth is one species that I haven't pulled from Rufus. It sure looks like an ideal habitat water for them though.
Take care and fish well.

Lewis, I don't think there is a body of water around these days that the fish are safe with you on the prowl!LOL Good on you.

Great pictures to go along with you and Jiggys posts. I tell ya the water there looks like glass compared to the lower end. I'm glad you all had a great time and hope more monster fish soon.

The wind was sporatic that day, we had glass smooth water, and shortly after that pic, the wind came up and rough water was the order.
