Had the pleasure of fishing with the Mrs. and our son. Went out for perch and worked depths around 20ft. with small jigs. Perch were just feet above the bottom. Average length varied between 7-9 inches but all were very plump,it appears they are eating well. We all caught and released perch but more importantly,a great family outing.

Also tried for largemouth bass using jigs smothered in bass scent but no such luck. Can't wait until warmer weather returns and I can revert back to my old ways of cranks and spinnerbaits. Eitherway,my schedule has been full and this was a long overdue fishing trip with the family.

Thanks for the report, Kevin. I him-hawed between Kapowsin, Swofford and Chambers and decided on Chambers Lake this coming Thursday. Got a new rod at the Sportsman's show, picked up a new reel today, jigs in hand and ready for some early season failure, lol, well, hopefully not.

Right on Arnie! What rod did you pick up? are you fishing Chambers on base or the other one closer to Olympia?
We'll have to get together this upcoming season. Hoping to be on the bass soon,on this trip they wouldn't bite even if I had a hundred dollar bill as a trailer on the jig. Seems perch only like me right now

I got an ABU Garcia Veritas, 7' 3". Added a Garcia Revo to that yesterday. My new jig flippin rig. I would be going to the Chambers in Thurston Co., (Lacey) as my friend lives right by there, but, we are canceled now...maybe Firday, maybe next week.

Thats a pretty good find Arnie,I'm sure it will see plenty of action this upcoming season. Its funny you mention Swofford,I've been really wanting to get down there soon but have no idea how it fishes this time of the year.
Good call roger, only a couple months away.Cabin fever has ran its coarse....its time to go fishing, without coming home with a cold

Kevin, did you try for bass on the same spots you caught the pertch? They should be close to the perch.

In the general area as the perch but I didn't dedicate to much time to them. I will give it a go within the next few days or week and try devoting more time to lmb. Usually when I catch perch,I tend to get a few hookups on crappie, bluegills and even a trout here and there.I was a bit surprised as on this trip all fish were perch.
