Wow! This was a tough one. We fished flatfish, cha cha squidders, Kingfisher Lite spoons, Rushin' Salmon Wobblers and B2 squid rigs with a minimum of success. Started above the Yacht Club and got one fish each of the first 3 passes, but pass 2 was pretty good with 4 bites. However one didn't get hooked up and two pulled off. We conferred and hung in there for a 4th pass, hooked the big one, but had him pull off after it's second long run. hurumphff... Four hours gone. Picked up and moved to the trench where Andy was having another banner day. Hooked a fish within 10 minutes of putting down only to have it pull off. Then in fairly quick succession had 4 more bites without getting them hooked up at all. Aaarrghh. Then a blank hour. Six hours gone. Picked up and moved to the Bar. At the end of the first pass up it, my reel jammed on the outrigger rod while trying to retrieve it to make the turn. No, wait a minute, that's what a "fish on" feels like! Ricky Hall got the big fish of the day, a seven pounder! Made another pass and picked up a 3 pounder on an M2 Chub pattern flatfish, go figure? That's a big lure for a smallish fish. Two blank passes then darkness was rolling in. Although in some ways, it was "one of those days", we did catch fish, we got some quality fish in the mix, the weather was great and the company was excellent!
