Fished Rock today for the 1st time. Trolled the left side from the launch to the end..Having no knoledge of this lake we trolled Rapalas J-9 and XR-10 the yellow bellied seem to be the one for the day. We caught 7 and had twice as many hits. Today was mainly a day to watch the finder and learn the contour of the of this lake the fish were a bonus. The launch is a bit primitive a 4x4 helps. I learned a few things about rock lake today and the next trip will be more productive. I forgot to say the fish were German Brown Trout of medium size. Put them in the smoker with some alder chips and they were the best ever. The meat was more of a orange color than the brite red from the Roosevelt trout I have been catching this winter, these are the 1st German Browns I have ever caught. I will make Rock one of my frequent fishing spots and look forward to learning how to fish it.

The Brown Trout there always have the orange color instead of the rainbow pink. The are more closely related to Atlantic Salmon where as the Rainbow are more closely related to Steelhead and Pacific Salmon. The Bows in Rock have the color you are use to seeing.

welcome to washingtons little fishing heaven... I am sure you have been told, but every one should know that at the launch there is a huge drop off about 15-17' feet out...so be mindful not to rip your trailer up.... also there are several rocks about 60-100 feet from shore about a mile or so from the launch that come with in about 18" of the surface... so watch out in low water conditions. and last if the wind blows more then 30 mph look out.... the waves can get huge..... be safe.. tight lines
