2/28/2011 5:20:00 AMWhen I was 18, I went in after a 18-20lb. steelhead on the South Fork Stilly, line broke at the bank, it was just lying there, exhausted, it didn't even know it was free. I threw my rod, jumped on it's back and got thrown off and the beast swam away. As I walked away soaking wet I think I had tears in my eyes. I learned a big lesson that day 'jump in between the water and the fish and scoop it out'. 35 years later and I'm almost over it.
