Getting ready for the kokanee season, so I decided to go poke around a bit at stevens. Weather was crap! Windy, rainy, just crap, but I fished for about 2.5 hrs with nothing to show for it. There was some sort of crew rowing event going on so I couldn't launch at the City launch (had to drive all the way back around the lake to Davies), they also took up a majority of the lake with their bouy course, lots of the kokanee area was still open but some of the area I normally like to fish was inaccessible. Kokanee were rising all over the place, pretty much everywhere in the lake, every hundred yards or so you would troll through big schools of little jumpers..... they wouldn't hit anything I trolled through. May have been able to cast to the jumping schools with results, but was more focused on getting my one person trolling honed in in the new boat for when the season gets good. Through the box at them with no success. Followed marks to 80 feet on the downrigger, also ran flat lines, and lead core at various depth. Spent the majority targeting the fish up top from the surface to 14 feet. Water temp is ~46 degrees throughout the lake, in my experience once it hits 50+ the fish REALLY turn on, so I would say 1 week of solid good weather and this lake is going to be red hot.
Good luck out there.
