I always see this lake from the road driving from Republic and wanted to give it a try. Locals say there are big largemouth and big trout in this lake. Ice just left so I figured me being from Texas, I would slay the bass. That didnt happen, I threw spinners, rooster tails, and my favorite senko worms on a texas rig. I tried this for 2 hours and then decided to target trout with powerbait. I threw in some rainbow color where the mouth of the lake feeds the sanpoil river. I gave it 30 minutes of sitting in the rain and sleet and pulled in an 18" bow. I think the bass are there, I was just a little early for the hot bite. I'll keep trying. For those of you wondering, it is about 20 acres and just south of Curlew Lake next to a burned down wood mill. This is the headwaters for the sanpoil which flows alongside hwy 21 through the reservation and dumps into the columbia near Keller.
