My apologies if this report is poorly written than normal, typing on a very empty tank. Fished with my buddy muskyhunter,we worked a variety of areas in coves and rocky points etc. Changed lures often depending on the type of structure and /or depths. Anything from bucktails, swimbaits, bulldawgs etc. We did spot a large dead tiger musky near the shore of Driftwood Point. Tapps has had issues in the past with poachers,so we decided to check it out. We both checked it out for any obvious trauma such as cut gills or anything similar. Nothing indicated the acts of a poacher, which was a good sign but still a bummer to see any fish dead. Took a measurment as she was a nice 47incher. That ends the musky CSI part of the day. Most of the day I tossed a large tube,a local creation called a "Half Dead" tube. For the most part,I just wanted to get more familiar with using this style of bait.I don't use baits like this very often. Later in the day and maybe not paying as much attention as I should have been,I got a good hit what felt almost like a freight train. It only lasted a few moments but no doubt it was a good sized fish but I can only assume it was a tiger, for all I know it could have been a freakish carp. I also had a bass rod that I'd use from time to time with a Texas rigged Senko around the the bridges in hopes to get a bronzie or anything else that might give me the time of day. But no such luck with that, was hoping to get my first bass of the year but that will have to wait until my next trip. Water level is coming up and the North Tapps launch is open. For now, there is no charge for entry into North Tapps County Park.
Its time to go fishing! Good luck to everyone this season
