Anyone who has fished in Ellensburg knows that the wind never stops blowing. But that didn't discourage me and a couple co-workers from putting in time on Mattoon. The wind and slight rain and dark skies seemed to keep the fish away. Though, working our way around the North side of the lake to the far East side I managed to land a small planter. We all were fishing with different size and color Kastmasters, I just happen to catch my fish on a 1/4oz Silver and Orange Kastmaster from the far East bank. I dont know if it had alot to do with it but it seems like I caught my fish when the sun broke free from the clouds for a couple minutes. Maybe that sunlight lit my lure up in the water, I'm not sure but it seems like its going to be a couple more weeks before we have blue sky fishing up in Ellensburg. The dark clouds and wind wont keep us from trying to land those brood stock in there, but it seems like we will be needing some luck instead.
