First "EWU Fishing Club Fish-In" and first guided bass fishing trip of the year.

Got to the lake at 6:30am and got all 8 students who showed up for the fish-in situated, then got out on the water.

Started fishing the Dam using my where the water temps were around 46-48F and little wind with warming sun. Fishing in about 15 ft. of water we caught a 3.5 lb and Carl's new personal best 5 lb. Smallmouth.

Then we ran over by Mardon Resort and caught 3 more Smallmouth over 2 lbs. with the biggest being 3 lbs. all between 10-20 ft. of water, along with one 3 lb. Largemouth in the dunes.

Our 5 biggest fish would've weighed somewhere around 17lbs.

The EWU Fishing Club event went well, with one boat landing a 6.5 Lb. and 3lb. Largemouth in the dunes, using the Navionics Mobile App to help them find their way around a new lake.

Overall the quality is there to hook that trophy fish!!

I don't eat bass, only catch & release for them. Especially during this time of year when those big females are full of eggs and about to release genetically superior fish into the lake. I only keep & eat Walleye. I don't think there is a need to eat many Smallmouth out of Potholes, due to it being pretty quality fishery and not overpopulated. Now Banks Lake is a different story, fry up your full limit of 12 inchers.
