I went to Lake Ballinger mid morning for maybe a half hour but couldn't buy a bite if it had been up for sale. Went home and received an email from somebody here telling me that birdies were telling him that the fishies were making announcements. Kind of went baa humbug I was just there and saw nothing.

Around 1:30 P.M. I went back as the weather gods looked they were on hold. Well I was wrong again. Open the door, get in the car, rain starts. Go inside rain stops. Go outside it starts up.... again. By the time I get done playing indoors/outdoors it's closer to 2 than it was to 1. I stop off at Starbucks land to get some coffee. Saw Howard's book and wished I could burn the darned thing, much like the last barista burned the milk on my coffee. Got my coffee, called my dad regarding his tax's that I'm doing for him, he wasn't home so back to Ballinger I went. It was windy when I returned and I really didn't want to go back out but I did. 2 people on the dock and 3 others on shore. Rains started up as I walk on the dock. No hat and I wasn't heading back to the car to go get one. Didn't want to feed the wind gods a hat to be honest.

One of the guys on the dock reports fish are hitting ... but very very softly. He gets hit twice and both times misses. I make my first cast and decide a few minutes later that I didn't like my spot. Reel in and move. 10 to 15 minutes the soft tap occurs and I got the hook set. It was a plant and for as light as it hit it sure fought hard. Well the fish earned a C&R and not a C&R/EF (Catch & Release only to become Eagle food). I should have left at that point because that would be the only fish I actually landed. I had at least 6 to 8 other shots but I'm sure my pinched barbs played a part on why I missed them.

Lots of fish around the dock area and it stayed that way until the guy with the metal detector thing started to dance in the lake.

This was my first trout out of Ballinger in a long time. It was nice to catch a fish close to home.

i live right next to lake ballinger, i fished it a couple times after working tossing inline spinners at the trout that were rolling on the surface but couldn't get any to hit. i saw a couple kids land a few small planters from short using power eggs from the shore. i caught a cutt out of there earlier this year but nothing since. i'm just waiting for the water to warm up to start going after the bass and perch in there!

I was there on Sunday the 10th with my 7 year old son. In 1 hour, consisting of 30 minutes of hail and rain, we got on plant my son wanted to keep. I had on sppit the hook in the air for self realease. and multiple bumps. Just uning PB on bottom. Fun to feel a fish put up a litle figh!
