Lived in clear wood since last year, they say bass are in it so I gave it a try pitching to shoreline cover. No bass but numerous trout chased the bait from out of the wood falldowns. Also saw a number cruising the surface. Decided to troll the eastern shoreline around 6 pm with a shallow running crankbait that never fails me, sorry for the tackle vageness but some secrets are hard earned, trolled in 15' to 20' depths and varied my speed with each pass ( .8 to 3 mph GPS) In two hours had released 8 fish, one a 3lb, and missed one that hit so hard it brought my rod tip flat against my boat. No pics cause the phone was left in the truck. Don't be afraid to go fast, also some hits came immediately after turning the trolling motor completely off and coasting for a few moments.
If anyone knows about catching early season bass out of clear lake, I'm all ears.
