Wow. What a great day of fishing. I thought Silver Lake was the best lake in the area but now I am not sure. Trolled in the island area for about 2 hours with no luck. Headed towards the little lake and my brother-in-law Pat hooked into a nice, fat 15 inch rainbow. He hooked it with a small blue fox spinner. He could not keep them off after that for at least 2 hours. We both boated and filleted 20.5 inch 4 pounders as well as four others all over 1.5 pounds and 15 inches. The scary thing was the monster pat lost. He hooked into a fish that could only be described as large as a whale. We got it to the boat but it would not fit into the net. We lost it while wrestling with it to get it into the boat by hand. I estimate it to be at least 30 inches and over 10 pounds. I talked to the guy at the marina and he told me that he caught a 11 pounder a few weeks ago. He also said the lake record rainbow is over 20 pounds. The bottom line is there are fish here that average over 15 inches with plenty in the 5 pound plus range. we also lost quite a few. The funny thing is we were the only ones that caught fish according to the guy that works at the marina. Most were bait fishing. Use either a Blue Fox or a dick knight.
