Not a lot of action this morning, but man, was it a nice day! Sunny and in the upper 40's. Saw several carp jump on the northeast end of the lake near the diving platform and T-Dock. Trolled with a fly for a while and nothing hooking up. Switched back and forth between that and a wedding ring tipped with a Berkley trout worm. At 9 am caught this rainbow in about 15 feet of water. Probably would've been better to come at like 6am, or tonight in the evening.
Thousands of chironomid adult flies hatching all across the lake. Saw some risers take a few but left the dry fly at home thinking the fish wouldn't surface feed with the sun so strong. Dry fly fishing has some good potential tonight if that hatch keeps up. Two hatches appeared to be going on. They looked like size 16 Adams and size 24 Blue Winged Olives.
Got yelled at by one of the crew rowers for coming within 100 meters of their rowing area (which is, where I was, not clearly marked I might add) Sorry guys, I'll keep my distance next time.
There must've been almost 100 fishermen lining the eastern shore alone. About half were still fishing with bait on the bottom and the other half were throwing spinners. Didn't see any other fishing being taken up but some friends from shore told me they got at least one planter. Woohoo! Spring is here!
