Noticed on Saturday on the north side of Medical, the lake was turning over, so I decided to hit the south side since the lake is deeper on this side and it may not be turning over like the north side.

Just as I thought the south side hasn't started to turnover there was some signs of it starting to happen but not to the level of the notth side.
I rowed over to the west side accross from the ramp and anchored up in 16' of water and immediately noticed there were some mids coming up, mostly some small olive and black size 18-20. I tied on a 20' leader of straight 5X flourocarbon with three droppers. My point fly was a size 14 frostbite blood worm, 18" up was a size 18 olive thread body, gold rib and orange cheeks, no bead, my last fly another 18" up from the olive was my pornamid, tied with VCR tape as the body and with a red wire ribbing.

I was ready to go. Water was 49.6 degrees with a 10-15 mph SW wind, just perfect for a proper drift with my mids.

After 3 long drifts with the wind off of the portside of my boat I caught my first fish a beautiful 18" brown, ( I love those measure nets) which took the blood worm. With three hours sitting in this one area I caught 5 more, all browns ond one bow, all taken on the pornamid.
It was now about 1500 and the bite slowed up so I decided it was time to head deep.
I rowed out to about 26' of water and dropped down my pornamid and the little olive.

I wish I could tell you the fishing was on fire, it wasn't but it was steady. I fished to 1800 and in that time frame I dragged up 3 more browns from the depths on the small olive mid. Nothing like slowly moving your fly vertically through the water column, and having your rod almost ripped out of your hands from the aggressive strike these deep fish have a habit of doing.

It was a great day to be out on the water,, What a better way to celebrate my Lord and Savior's resurrection day, with having the chance to catch some of God's magnificent fish.

Sorry, no photos, hard to take pictures when you are by yourself.

PS. All law enforcement agencies take fishing illegally at Medical very seriously,, and the fishermen who fish this lake will drop a dime and will call on you if you want to fish illegally.

So remember single barbless hooks, no BAIT of ANY KIND and no lure or plastics with any scent allowed. I don't keep fish, I know you can at Medical. The limit is min size 14" and you can keep two.
