Had a great morning fo opening day. As The other post state the launch was flooded and the concrete pad was well under water but a pair of waders made it good. There were not alot of boats out when we launched at 0600 and when we had our limit (10:30) I am guessing 75 on the water with a line at the launch to get in. Started trolling everything from needle fish spoons to wedding rings and got into the planters fast, we released all of them and changed things up a bit. Put on a couple of Rapala X-Raps 4 inches long with a orange belly and move to the deep part of the lake and wham a 22inch cutthroat in minutes we had a double and the hooked into another one and so on for the next 2 hours.We hooked into 20 fish in 2 hours releasing the smaller ones (our smallest being 17 in and the biggest 22in) all cutthroats. Some days you have the right bait and find them all stacked up in a small area. No one was really fishing the deep water so we just keep working it until there were to many boats so we packed up and left at 10:30. I usually stay home on opening day but said what the heck, get there early and leave before the madness starts. My partner in his boat landed 4 of these monsters after he saw us and he switched up bait.
