Fished Wilderness for the first time on opening day this year with my father and brother-in-law. We were on the lake around 5:30 a.m., and left the water about 11:30. There were a lot of boats and people fishing (not surprising on opening day when there is a fishing derby). Was using my new pontoon boat, so spent a lot of time getting used to the boat. But did catch multiple rainbows primarily trolling a mini-hoochie with a spinner blade. I was under oar power, so not a fast trolling speed. Was using light weight approximately 10 inches above the spinner/hoochie. I also had fish take a Blue Fox spinner with a red hook. The majority of the fish were caught near the middle of the lake just across from the boat launch. Because I was not using bait and none of the fish were deeply hooked, all were released.
