I finally got to hook up with my friend Chris Erlichler and mad a trip up above Red Rock Lakre in Grant county for some Largemouth bass and crappie fishing. The weather, water temps and water conditions were promising. We launched our boat on No Name slough, a series of ponds connected by the lower crab creek basin drainage system and from the git go the fish were biting. I nailed three nice slab Black crappie on the very first series of stickups. Chris , tossing a Yammamoto Cinnamon/purple flake Senko worm rigged on a an offset shank 2/0 wide gap worm hook started working over some 2 lb + plus largies by rigging his senko weightless and targeting the back sides of woody cover in the sloughs back corners. By far the best Senko color was the 4.5 " Baby bass pearl belly worm deadsticked at times in the thick stuff. We ended up with nearly 30 largemouth to three pounds and all the crappie were super black males, all over 11 inches. Water temps were awesome @ 59.8 degrees and most of our fish were caught in the 6 to 8 foot depth zone. Judging by the aggressive takes by the bass, the "Pre Spawn Binge is going on right now! It's the best time of the year to be catching numbers of largemouth bass and crappie.( For some reason my crappie pics didn't download!) Maybe later...I'll post the crappie pics on another post. Jiggy
