Well, we thought the weather was fianallygoing to break our way, but it was still cold. The fish were def. harder to find, down deeper then flat lining would allow, had to break out the downrigger.Spent the first few hours flatlining to no avail.Took a couple more hours for the same amount of fish as last week. Beatiful cuts, largest was spawned out male sea-run still with sea lice on it. Note the salmon next to them that came out of their guts for lure approx. will use larger lures as salmon get bigger!, chrome bright little fish, almost fresh enough to still be alive!Dollies were smaller then usual, lake is a little cloudy due to lots of rain and cold, next week still looks cold and rainy, fishing here has not hit it's stride in spite of minimal pressure. Nice haul, you're making me want to check this place out from your reports! I'd try a brad's superbait mini-cutplug, a coho killer, or maybe even a kingfisher to mimic those smolts!

Looks like a good day on the water, Ron. Pretty similar to what I have experienced at LQ this year. Between 3 of us, we caught 18 on opening day. Only 2 Dolly's, but none of the fish had much size to them. Released most all. Fished yesterday and caught 8. 2 Dolly's and 6 cutts. 2 of the cutts were in the 14" range. Dolly's were around 17".

Can you confirm the closing date for Lake Quinault? The regulations provided indicate the lake will close on May 29th. Do you know if this is accurate? I would hate to see the season close so quickly.

Regs showing closure of May 29th have been updated on April 21st to show closing at end of October, It was just a lack of seasonal regs being approved by business commitee so they passed a temp. set to get through opening day, I've heard through pretty reliable sources that the derby is not on, if you hear diff. let us know. Mel did take one at three lbs. last week, I believe lots of rain has somewhat reduced visibility, bite seemed to improve as sun got higher.(what little there was, although we will be out in force this weekend with clear skies and warm weather predicted! I do have some of those Brad's super bait mini- cut plugs, maybe that will entice bigger Dollies, but the spoons we use have been paying off. Bob R.
