Was a cool overcast morning, arrived around 7am. Had the rare occasion of taking out my father, who doesn't fish much anymore. Started trolling with the usual trolling gear. Used a small chunk of worm on a green wedding ring, which produced a few bites but because of a strong south wind and an under charged battery, we decided to still fish for awhile. Found an area around 30-35ft deep where the fish finder had found fish. The fish were moving in small groups in and out of the area hovering around 25ft or so. Used green powerbait and a slip sinker with 24 inches of leader. I use a 1/2 once slip sinker to hold the bait on the bottom, cast out a few feet allowing the leader to lengthen a bit and putting the bait in the zone. I leave the line really slack, and when the fish strike they tend to pick up the bait softly and slowly pull the slack. Setting the hook takes a little patience. After around an hour or so we had 7 fish in the boat and a couple in the 15 to 18 inch range. Weather finally chased us off around noon. A good day again. Then again its always a good day when you get to take your Dad especially when he's the one who taught me. The lake will only get better as the fall gets closer to winter. There are lots of smaller kokane, but they are in deep water and harder to catch. Good luck
