Another beautiful day on American Lake! The water was glassy smooth most of the morning with a bright clear sky. I fished from 0930 to 1230 between the south side of Silcox Island and the VA hospital along with a flotilla of other boats. The setup that yielded a limit for me was a 4/0 nickel dodger followed by a couple different hand made spinners, trolled at about 15 feet in depth. One spinner was pink/amber with a nickel blade and the other was crystal/amber with a nickel blade. I guess they liked the flash given of by all the chrome and glass beads. My last two fish were taken off the SW tip of the island, and a young eagle tried to get both! Each time the fish would come to the surface and dance, the eagle would swoop down after it. I’ve never had to manage a catch before to avoid an eagle. Memorable day on the lake.
